2024 FAM Opportunities
This year, the Cayuga County Office of Tourism will be hosting four large group FAMs centered around noteworthy events and themes in the area, as well as a few individual FAMs (per writer request). As the year progresses, this page will be updated to reflect solidified plans—including trip itineraries, visit details, etc for our group opportunities. If you are interested in attending a FAM (group or individual) hosted by Cayuga County, please fill out our interest form.
Harriet Tubman Day Group FAM: March 8-10, 2024
In honor of Harriet Tubman Day on March 10, this FAM will highlight Tubman’s connection to Auburn, NY, where she lived the last 50+ years of her life as a free woman. Amongst others, this itinerary will include stops at the Harriet Tubman Home, the Seward House Museum, and Fort Hill Cemetery.
Juneteenth Group FAM: June 15-19, 2024
With U.S. News & World Report naming Auburn, NY as a top destination for celebrating Juneteenth, this FAM will highlight Cayuga County’s programming and celebrations for the holiday—as well as the area’s rich abolitionist history. On top of visiting locations like the Harriet Tubman Home, stops on this trip will also include local Juneteenth celebrations.
Harriet Tubman & The Outdoors Group FAM: August 16-18, 2024
During her life, Harriet Tubman forged a deep connection with the outdoors. This FAM will celebrate and explore this connection through various educational and recreational outdoor experiences. Opportunities offered on this trip will include a foraging farm-to-table dinner, stargazing, and more.
International Underground Railroad Month Group FAM: September 20-22, 2024
In honor of International Underground Railroad Month, this FAM will highlight Cayuga County and New York State’s connections to the Underground Railroad. Last year, this FAM was hosted in conjunction with a media event featuring speakers from the Underground Railroad Consortium of New York State and the National Park Service. This trip will include visits to the Howland Stone Store Museum, the Harriet Tubman Home, and more.
